Chip Butty is a great new routine from Liam Montier.

A deck of cards is shown, given a shuffle and a card selected (and signed, if you like) before it is clearly dropped back into the centre of the pack, and shown on all sides to be free of all breaks.

You explain that you have some poker chips that are going to give you a clue as to the identity of the selection, and bring out four chips, each with a different card suit printed on.

The chips are placed into your left hand and you eliminate three of them by pushing them out of your fist. The suits eliminated are Clubs, Spades and Hearts, for example.

This, you explain, reveals that the suit of the chosen card as being a Diamond, which the spectator confirms. You now propose to discover which Diamond card, and immediately the chip vanishes, leaving both hands clean!

Calling attention to the pack, you cut it to reveal the chip has reappeared in the centre, resting on the back of one card. You invite the spectator to remove the chip and check the card beneath. To their surprise, the chip is fused onto the back of the card, which is naturally the selection!
