This style of magic is performed in a public place such as the street, coffee shops and cafes in which the magician performs one or two seemingly unrehearsed tricks or feats of mentalism to unsuspecting members of the public. Street magic gimmicks usually involve sleight of hand, card magic, coins and occasionally mentalism.

Walk around magic is a term generally associated with magic gimmicks for the strolling magician or "table hopper", where the performer is working with effects that are small and compact enough to be easily be kept in the pocket. Tricks are generally the same as or similar to street magic tricks. Performance situations for this type of magic would typically be working restaurants, weddings or other events and parties.
